Serengeti National Park (in Tanzania) is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world. It is one of the most important wildlife areas in the world, where 90% of the film series produced on African animals take place in this Savannah ecosystem.
The name Serengeti is derived from the Masai word “Siringeti” meaning endless plains. The park contains an estimated 3.5 million large animals, most of which take part in seasonal migration that is one of nature’s wonders.
The Serengeti stretches over 5.700 square miles of plains, riverine bush, and acacia woodland, with savannah grassland as the dominant environment.

From mid-January to mid-February the wildebeest migration is usually at its height in the Serengeti, with the wildebeest giving birth to their foals during this time.

With more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson's gazelle, and a quarter of a million zebra, Serengeti National Park has the greatest concentration of plains game in the world.
Its unique combination of diverse habitats enables it to support more than 30 species of large Herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds. As such, it offers the most complex and least disturbed ecosystem on earth. Animals including lions, leopards, elephants, rhino, hippo, giraffes, baboons and wild dogs .
